Ensuring a consulting group’s employee productivity and cybersecurity with streamlined IT management
Over 30 years ago, a psychologist with a background in public administration and business started a consulting firm to support community mental health systems and prevention services that protect children. Since then, his organization has evolved into a full-service consulting, analytics, and mental health services business, with over 50 team members located across the country.
After establishing themselves in the behavioral health space as trusted partners for their clients, this team secured multiple government contracts, serving as the External Quality Review Organization (EQRO) for various states. With these expansion needs, they reached out to Davin Technology Group for support in building out scalable, HIPAA-compliant IT systems, spanning new IT infrastructure, hardware, and cloud-based tools for remote employees.
The challenge
Establish HIPAA-compliant IT systems for a remote workforce
With new government contracts came new demands for additional headcount, remote capabilities, and HIPAA-compliant cloud-based systems. This required a complete overhaul of the organization’s IT infrastructure and the implementation of secure, cloud-based technology. Plus, they needed a partner that could support employee IT operations on a day-to-day basis.
The goals
Enable secure employee operations and build a public-facing website
This healthcare consulting team needed systems, and an IT consulting and solutions provider, that could grow with them and protect patient information.
Here’s what we mapped out as the goals for their HIPAA-compliant IT transformation:
- HIPAA compliant data analysis environment and statistical platform to analyze tens of millions of ePHI records and patient data.
- Deployment of durable laptops with best-in-class security and HIPAA safeguards to withstand the continuous abuse of staff travel requirements.
- Remote management of all corporate devices.
- HIPAA compliant cloud-based email and eDiscovery platform.
- HIPAA compliant cloud-based file storage and sharing platform to securely store and facilitate data transfers with statewide health plans.
- Cloud-based phone system to enable corporate phone presence for all staff members, contractors, and consultants regardless of their physical location.
- Development of a public-facing website to publish EQRO reports and informational resources for health plans, government officials, and mental health consumers.
- Ongoing, day-to-day IT support for a remote healthcare-facing workforce.
The solution
Develop a comprehensive technology plan for every aspect of business operations
To start, we met with the internal senior leadership team, government officials, and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and begin development of their new technology plan.
We built out a multi-year technology budget, vendor procurement workflows, technology and infrastructure implementation timelines, disaster recovery plans, and an operational overview of our strategy to support their day-to-day operations.
The process
Align with stakeholders and define requirements, then design and implement the new technology systems
After approving the plan, we got to work, reinventing IT for this mental health consulting and analytics firm. We implemented all aspects of their new employee technology and developed a new, public-facing website for them to share EQRO reports and informational resources.
“The scope of their services covers everything from online training processes, IT infrastructure, all aspects of software and hardware management, cyber-security, database management, cloud management, website development, and being a valued partner in our strategic planning for growth.”

With new, remote-friendly technology systems, the team has been able to scale up their staff, without worrying about managing IT.
